Here I am.

My son turned two years old today, and when I look back over the past three years or so, I can't help but be in awe of all that I've learned and experienced in a time period that seems to have gone by in somewhat of a sleepy wink. ;) Yes, time goes seriously fast when you're a parent! Lightening fast! There's a reason besides sleep deprivation that us mums can't remember what day it is... I guess it stems from never ever having a spare moment and constantly jumping from one task to a distraction to the next task, then remembering the previous task you didn't actually complete and so on.

But I digress, I'm here to introduce myself and my motivation behind starting a blog. I guess it's because I'm just now reflecting over the immense amount of stuff I've learned this past two years since my son was born on a quiet snowy January morning... As a happily breastfed baby, I've spent many many hours with the little guy latched to me and (don't get me wrong, I spent many hours just staring at him lovingly too) but the saving grace to my sanity was having an iPhone to read up on whatever childcare development was freaking me out at the moment AND also being able to reach out to other mums.

I also want to write all this stuff down and keep learning from you and other online contributors out there, so that by the time I have baby number two (and have my brood grow exponentially) I'll be a little more seasoned and hopefully a little less bewildered. Having only a handful of close friends who are parents I've come to find the online connections and community that I've found to be unbelievably valuable. They've exposed me to more interesting thoughts about parenting and a diversity of view points that I would've never had access to in my small circle!

They say it takes a village to raise a child but I'm sure I'm not the first to say that these days it's more likely a global village! Hoping to be a responsible member of whichever village I'm a part of, and seen as I have had newer mums than me reach out to me for guidance, I figure it can't hurt to share a bit of what I've learnt and what I'm still learning - as well as what inspires me and what I aspire to! Attachment parenting, natural birth, breastfeeding, baby led weaning, elimination communication, natural living, baby wearing, cloth diapering, early childhood development and much, much more.

I look forward to sharing with you and having you share with me so we can build our little sympathetic neighbourhood right here on these pages. :)
